This weeks' example:

This is a schematic map.
It's like the BART map. It shows the relative location of a place and basic direction to it, not the exact position and path like on a traditional map.
Schematic maps are made to be easy to read and decipher quickly and get you quickly on your way, not to be an accurate and detailed guide.
I love all kinds of maps: their beauty and ability to place me into a particular place and time. And in the case of schematic maps like this one: their simplicity, clarity and efficiency. Making a map is a wonderful design challenge.
