  This is the Bitter Springs Navijo Nation...
A young Navajo couple put their love for fashion and hip-hop together to launch a clothing line called UN3EK SY5TEM.
    Tyson Powless, 34, and Quishana Begay, 27, say their line reflects Indian philosophy. "The unique system represents every tribe," Powless told The Farmington Daily Times "It represents the system they used to survive, how they struggled to keep their cultures, beliefs and traditions alive."

The couples makes t-shirts that mix Indian symbols and graffiti. They hope to expand into jewelry, skirts, dresses and shoes. "In the end, people don't really care who the designers are as long as the clothes look good," Begay says.

The company operates out of the couple's home in Shiprock, New Mexico.

INSTRUCTIONS and HINTS:

Right-Click and save, or drag the images to your folder in the My Documents folder.

  1. Open the three files in PHOTOSHOP.

  2. Combine the two first two images: float the Quishana image over on top of the Bitter Springs background image.

  3. Use the Lasso tool to make a rough selection of Quishana and cut her out with a Layer Mask in the Layers Panel.

  4. Use the Mask Panel to modify and feather the mask edge.

  5. In the Layers Panel create a New Transparent Layer.

  6. On that new layer, use the Clone Stamp Tool—set to Overlay Mode and an Opacity of about 20%—to paint in the Red Roses on top of Quishana.
